Kiva Sakona is a Basque visual artist and researcher based in Amsterdam. Her multidisciplinary practice involves writing, video and installation work. She investigates how the aesthetic experiences of everyday life are tied to the ways in which advanced capitalism captures libidinal energy. She is interested in the visual and temporal conditions of the multimedia environments we inhabit and in how these are closely tied not only to the spirit of productivity of our time, but also to our capacity for attention, sensibility and imagination. She creates narratives and experiences of space and time that explore the ways in which we adapt our psychological and affective behaviours to our saturated audio-visual surroundings. While holding space for humour, she speculates on the possibility of disengaging from the present-day attention economy.
